Wise Words
What we call Grampa and D Camp began yesterday: four days hosting our grandsons Jake, 10, and Ryan, 8. We’ve made the T-shirt, booked an adventure on an island tomorrow, and are heading to pick blueberries this morning.
In between the scheduled events, living with the boys offers precious glimpses of life as seen through the eyes of two smart and curious young humans.
Last night at 3 a.m. I heard Ryan cry out, so I walked softly to their room to see if I could help out.
Jake was already comforting him before I got there. I couldn’t hear exactly what Jake was saying, but the tone of a big brother calming his little brother was unmistakable.
When people talk about brotherly love, that’s what it sounds like.
This morning I found myself thinking about the trust that enables one person to comfort another.
That’s the title of an excellent book that Pete Buttigieg published in 2020, after he ran for President. Highly recommended.
I uploaded my highlights to Goodreads.
Off to the blueberry patch!
