All in with Sarah and Josh
My daughter Sarah and her husband Josh stayed with us here in Sanibel over the weekend. Visiting from Cambridge, Mass., they loved the sun and soft air of southwest Florida.
Darlene has been making stepping stones for our yard out of pottery pieces held in place with grout. Sarah and Josh each contributed a unique addition to the collection (see above).
Josh is an impressive pickleballer who played four exciting games with our pickleball teacher, Luke Hambor. I recorded them with my iPhone and lavalier microphones. You can watch the YouTube video here.
I find travel and hosting guests to be similar. Both can be transforming if you go all in. That was my experience in Darlene’s and my recent trip to Santa Fe.
As hosts, we researched our guests’ breakfast preferences, scheduled activities, planned restaurant destinations, and set aside time for long, enlightening conversations. It gave us a chance to learn our hometown anew.
Tomorrow we will greet my younger daughter Roo and sons Jake, 11, and Ryan, 9, at RSW for a four-day stay. I bought new toys for the pool at the club, where I am sure we will be spending a lot of time with the boys. Their rented bikes have arrived.
The visit will begin with a scavenger hunt in the house where they will hunt for gifts I bought in Santa Fe, plus the pool gizmos.
Let the games begin anew!
