We donned hard hats and safety vests yesterday for a tour of the under-construction condo we are buying in Biddeford.
Alas, the manager in charge of the site over-ruled his boss and said it was not safe for us to climb up to the unit. I had pictures stairs, but in reality the only way up now is temporary ladders.
So our realtor, David Marsden, promised to FaceTime us in Florida when it’s safe for him to give us a look at the view from our condo. The project is scheduled for completion and move-in by late April of next year.
Meanwhile, I had a chance this morning to visit with John Laliberte, CEO of Reveler Development, which is making a big bet on the future of Biddeford.
John was intrigued by my idea of a newsletter for future residents of our building. Maybe we could get to know each other before we become neighbors.
Sometimes an idea for a Maine project sounds great when I’m in Maine, and when I get to Sanibel I can barely remember the shape of it, and vice versa. So we’ll see.
I’d like to close with these audio programs which I hope will be on our playlist during the drive to Florida, subject to Darlene’s approval:
I’m loving a new Audible Original, The Wonder of Stevie, narrated by Wesley Morris and featuring conversations with the Obamas, Smokey Robinson, Ray Parker Jr. and Stevie Wonder himself. It’s a deep and heartfelt dive into five albums Stevie released between 1972 and 1976, from Music of My Mind to Songs in the Key of Life. Highly recommended!
Portrait of a Radical: The Jesus Movement is an Audible book released this week. It showcases insights by Richard Rohr, a hero of mine, the late Huston Smith, and Allen Dwight Callahan.
